Skating Skills Camp
South Metro Thunder is beyond excited to be offering our second annual skating skills camp in the summer of 2025. Sessions will focus on developing skating skills, including power and explosiveness, proper stance, edge control, transitions, stride, and agility. Each session will include a warm-up progression and specific skating focus area.
Carey Tinkelenberg and Karri Nachtigal have over 50 years of combined experience as professional, full-time skating coaches. They have developed programs for youth, high school, college, and semi-pro athletes and teams. Carey and Karri are skating development pros for the Lakeville Hockey Association, as well as Northfield, Owatonna, and Minneapolis associations and Hawkeye Hockey Services elite training programs.

Ages
There is no age requirement for these sessions, but we do ask that skaters be able to handle very specific and intentional coaching on the ice.
When
Session 1 will run from June 9th to July 16th, and Session 2 will be running from July 21st to August 20th. There will be no ice during the week of the 4th of July.
Where
All sessions will take place at Ames Arena in Lakeville, MN. They will all be on Genz-Ryan Rink (formerly known as Rink 2).
Duration of ice time
Each session will involve 10 ice touches, and will all be 45 minutes in duration.
